Why Whole-Food Supplements?

There are many supplement, performance, and health products available to us on the market. How are we supposed to know what is good for us, and which will harm us? IT’S SIMPLE: our bodies are meant to function optimally through the sole consumption of FOOD (and water). Then, shouldn’t all of our supplements come from whole-foods? Well, you would think so.

Whole-food supplements contain all of the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients from the organic food it is produced from. Unlike synthetic supplements, which are man-made in a laboratory, whole-food supplements contain the WHOLE complex in which vitamins exist in nature. This is a key factor when it comes to supplements since vitamins are highly complex in nature and NEVER exist as isolates.

However, when non-whole-food companies produce their supplements, they synthesize parts (or isolates) of the vitamin/food complex, instead of using the whole complex.

For example, many companies sell “Vitamin C” supplements, when truly all the supplement is, is a highly concentrated isolate of Vitamin C (known as Ascorbic Acid). Alone, Ascorbic Acid is very harmful to the body. Every synthetic vitamin we put into our body is missing its counterparts that it would typically have in nature/food.

As the synthetic “vitamin” attempts to be processed in the body, it will seek out its natural counterparts from WITHIN our body. This is extremely harmful because it means the synthetic vitamin will pull its co-factors from ANY tissue in the body to recombine itself to make a whole complex to be assimilated.

Therefore, in order to process the synthetic vitamin, we actually make ourselves deficient of the “vitamin” we are taking, as well as all of its counterparts. Meanwhile, you think you are getting healthier by taking your over-the-counter vitamin, while you are actually becoming more and more deficient and causing more harm/illness in your body. This research on vitamin isolates is widely recognized in the health industry, yet the general population is not informed of this information.

Also, the nutraceutical industry has no regulating board to oversee product quality, integrity of ingredients, or honesty about what is on the label. Your products can say they are one thing, but not even include traces of it. Even scarier, on the other hand, it can be loaded with problematic ingredients or additives and not be required to list it.
